Yeah! Congratulations to the USA Gold all around gymnastics!
August 16, 2008
I stayed up until 1:30 am, knowing I had to get up at 6 am. It was well worth it. My heart raced and pounded as these beautiful, talented, super phenom’s Nastia Liukin and Shawn Johnson won the USA all-around gymnastics Gold and Silver. I couldn’t be prouder.
Watching the honer and respect they brought to each other as teammates was impressive. Watching ‘Nas’ dad and her was heart wrenching, and I teared up with them when they cried. What a pure joy. The only weird thing was why was Nas’ mom was ’site seeing’ as she told Brian Williams on NBC Nightly news. She couldn’t bear to watch due to her nervousness. O’com. That is not powerful mom. She may be a HUGE force in her daughters life-but in those four crucial hours, where was she? Nas had to text her mom I won the gold. Wild hoarses couldn’t keep me away. I just heard her say that her mom’s “phone was off”. Sorry, there is something waaay off here.
Kinda like when my mom couldn’t not ‘bear to see me in labor’ and was not present for all five of her only child/ only daughter (me) birth. I could be bitter about it, but I choose to put that into action. I am there for all of my children’s very important moments, unless I am totally held against my will, or I have something life changing that we all agree I should be doing.
Can’t wait for tonight, and watching Michael Phelp’s mom and sisters…all I can say is I cried with them. Bravo to all the Olympic families.

Agreed. That was not a Powerful Mom. My rule of thumb? When my kid is in the olympics? I’m gonna watch. If she wants me in there with her when she’s having a baby? I’m there.
